Where The Foxgloves Bloom A Novella Deborah Smith 9781500228699 Books Reviews

I LOVED A Place to Call Home, so I have been waiting and waiting for this sequel. I love these characters and I found myself belly laughing out loud in places, and reduced to tears in others. I am so happy to get a glimpse back into their lives to see what they're up to. It's almost like running into a old friend you hadn't seen for awhile and finding yourself enjoying their company as much as you had before. As always, I enjoy the way Deborah Smith builds a story line and I found myself, once again, laughing out loud and relating to the events that have brought them to the place they find themselves in Before I was ready to let them go, part 1 was over. Can't wait to read the next parts!
The novella manages to build on its predecessor with heart-wrenching twists and turns, taking Clair and Roan even further outside of their family circle. However, the piss poor editing is an embarrassment to Ms. Smith and Belle Books.
Cannot say enough about this author! I am first generation american and the way I get lost in her southern characters makes me feel like I am also from the Georgia mountains for generations and that these people are my people! She has a way to describe every detail in a way that you can touch, smell, and taste it. I love her every word and have been reading her books since I was in college 10 yrs ago! Keep it up deb!!
I liked this book because it shows a family in the south that is a tight knit Irish family
with love, fighting and checking on each other who pregnant who's not, and the complications
of Claire and Roan, who have no children and Grandpa Joe thinking about the Foxgloves.
This has a surprise ending leading into the 2nd book...still waiting for it.
Great book! The very first Deborah Smith book I came across was "A Place to Call Home," and I've enjoyed catching up with two of my favorite characters. Some people are annoyed about the book ending abruptly, and I can see why, but I'm just happy to have another chance to revisit a favorite story. My only concern There are supposed to be two more books that go with this one, and I cannot find them anywhere! Talk about a cliffhanger! Good thing I'm patient )
I loved A Place Called Home. The characters have stayed with me for such a long time. Picking up this novella was a no-brainer, and it doesn't disappoint. I was curious about so many unanswered questions in the original novel. Deborah Smith provides a plausible plot that ties off some of those loose ends. This quick read was satisfying and unfulfilling all at the same time. Claire is still trying to save the world, and Roan is forced to acknowledge that her need to do so won't end with him.

I love this couple and the family--even Josh. It wouldn't be so real without characters that remind us of our own imperfections.
WHile I enjoy Deborah Smith's stories , I feel cheated with this half of a story. I don't like the trend for authors to write series that the stories can't stand alone, even if I have not read the previous book. This is even worse, as she starts a story and then leaves it to be continued in a new book that is not even published yet.
This is a good follow up to A Place to Call Home, but it is only book 1 of what is suppose to be a 3 part series. It is small and a quick read, but it really leaves you wanting the next part of the story. I have not been able to find part 2 or 3. This is very frustrating, so don't get this book until the rest of the story comes out.
